Solar battery cycles and warranty in South Africa explained

A cycle is roughly one full charge-and-discharge of usable capacity (manufacturers define partial cycles differently). Warranties combine years and sometimes throughput/cycles or a remaining-capacity floor (e.g. 70% after 10 years). Read both — and keep proof of correct install, CoC and operating limits.

What voids cover (common patterns)

  • Wrong inverter protocol / unsupported BMS settings.
  • Water ingress, incorrect torque, missing fusing.
  • Operating outside temperature limits.
  • Unauthorised firmware or DIY parallel packs.
